Instructional Design

Date

December 2022

Role

Lead Designer

Purpose of Instructional Material
This instructional project was undertaken to modernize and digitize the curriculum for Capturing Kids’ Hearts' (formerly The Flippen Group) product, Leadworthy. Our goal was to update the course content to meet current educational standards and to transition it to a fully web-based format. The curriculum aims to support professional development, enhancing educators’ ability to foster positive learning environments and effective relationship-building skills in schools. Shown below is a sample from one of the 85 lessons developed for this project.

Process
This was a six-month project where I served as the team lead, overseeing a team of six professionals, including subject matter experts (SMEs), curriculum writers, editors, and developers. My responsibilities included video editing, HTML coding of the instructional site, quality assurance, and ensuring that project milestones were met. I reported to the Branding Manager and executive team members who provided final approvals for each phase of the course. Our team collaborated closely to research, update, edit, and code each lesson, ensuring alignment with current educational standards and a user-friendly experience in a web-based environment.

Conceptual Framework
The project followed the ADDIE model, guiding us through analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. Recognizing the importance of interactive, learner-centered design, we incorporated multimedia elements and active learning techniques to support content retention and engagement. My approach was grounded in the belief that hands-on, accessible content fosters better educational outcomes. By blending current instructional standards with digital accessibility, this curriculum is now optimized for today's learning environments.
